Living with Dementia. A Visual Narrative
In this project, together with two medical anthropologists, Gloria Frisone and Martina Laganà, we aimed to challenge the stereotyped representations of dementia as a form of mental decline, passivity, and loss of self. The research took place in a nursing home in Northern Italy, and concluded with an experimental ethnographic workshop we conducted during the EASA 2022 conference. My task was to visually narrate dementia through three portraits, each representing one of the research participants and their emotional aspect and personal experience with Alzheimer's disease.
